Ercilla Tower

This XV century tower/home is the oldest civil building that has been preserved in Bermeo. In the historic center of Bermeo there was at one point thirty tower homes. Until the middle of the XX century the Ercilla tower had people living in it. Nowadays, it is the Fishermen’s Museum

Gaztelu

Situated in between the old port and Santa Eufemia, from here you can make out the three ports: the commercial, the fishing and the old port.

Old town

The Franciscan Church and Cloisters

This was the first convent of friars in Bizkaia, founded by the lords of Bizkaia in 1357.

The old port

Portuzarra or the old port, is the small traditional fisherman’s port of the village. The houses of fishermen hold on to their design and medieval form.

The San Juan Arch

The San Juan arch is the only left standing out of seven arches that originally formed a medieval wall.

Santa Eufemia Church

This is Bermeo’s oldest church. It’s claim to fame is being the church where the lordship swore to uphold the fueros, traditional code of laws granting sovereignty.

Atalaya

This astonishing overlook is situated in the higher part of the village. What in it’s day was the watch guard’s house is now an unrivalled area to view the ocean.
